The fastest train in India – Gatimaan express has been flagged off on 5th April by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on an event held in New Delhi. The debut journey took almost 100 minutes to reach the Taj Mahal city, Agra. The train can achieve a maximum speed of 160km/h. It will be available for 6 days a week except on Fridays(Taj Mahal is shut on Fridays).
Launch of the train will be a key initiative towards the high speed travel in India. The train comprises 2 executive AC chair cars with ticket fare of INR 1500 and 8 AC chair car coaches costs INR 750.
Not only the pace of the train is the notable fact, also some other facilities provided resembles world’s luxurious aircrafts. The newly introduced train hostesses and entertainment systems brings a new level of comfort for the passengers. The specialities of the Gatimaan express includes Eco friendly bio toilets, GPS based passenger information service, Automatic sliding doors, Automatic Fire alarm system, Emergency braking system etc. The 8 inch LCD television provided behind every seat will keep the passenger entertained The Railway authorities provided a menu that ranges from Kanjeevaram idli to Spanish omelets and Swiss Rolls.
This is going to be a good forward step towards the tourism development the country as it will be a boon for the for the tourists who would like to visit the Taj Mahal from New Delhi.
